What is the OZEV Grant?
The OZEV grants are part of the UK’s wider strategy to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and meet the nation’s ambitious net zero targets by 2050. By lowering the cost of EV charging installations, these grants encourage households, workplaces, and educational institutions to embrace electric transportation, helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Each grant type has been tailored to address the unique needs of different users, ensuring that as EV demand grows, the necessary infrastructure is in place to support it. Whether for home use, employee access, or community benefit, the OZEV grants make EV charging solutions more accessible and help build a sustainable future.
How the scheme works:
The WCS is open to businesses, charities and public sector organisations that meet the applicant and site eligibility criteria.
The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points (inclusive of VAT), capped at a maximum of:
- £350 per socket.
- 40 sockets across all sites per applicant – for instance, if you would like to install them in 40 sites, you will have 1 socket available per site.
- Up to £14000 per site.
How To Apply For The Grants
Applying for OZEV grants varies slightly depending on the grant, but here are the general steps:
Eligibility Check: Review each grant’s eligibility requirements to ensure your home, workplace, or school qualifies.
Choose an OZEV-Approved Installer: Only OZEV-certified installers can claim the grants on your behalf, ensuring installations meet government standards.
Complete the Application Process: Applications for workplace and infrastructure grants often involve submitting a voucher request or registering with the DVLA portal.
Installation and Grant Claim: After installation, your installer will claim the grant amount from OZEV, and the grant value will be deducted from your invoice, reducing your final out-of-pocket cost.
